You want to get that cell phone that has caught your eye for some time now but you think that the price it is being sold for in Trinidad and Tobago is for want of a better word, "ridiculous". You check the price of it on the internet and realise that you can get it way cheaper if you purchase externally. One question though. Will it work here in Trinidad and Tobago?
In purchasing a Cellular phone outside of Trinidad and Tobago, keep the following in mind
1) Ensure that the phone is UNLOCKED. Most phones that come as a package with a foreign provider such as Verizon, AT&T or Tmobile are SIM locked to those providers and as such will not work with a TSTT or Digicel SIM card.
2) Phones that work with CDMA technology will not work in Trinidad and Tobago. Choose a phone that is GSM, 3G or 4G compatible
3) Whether you choose Dual band, Tri band or Quad band phones, bear in mind that the general frequencies used in Trinidad and Tobago are 850 MHz and 1900 MHz
Thanks for the vital information. It was very useful
ReplyDeleteUnlocking phones these days are a common thing, any half hearted google search & you'll get scores of websites that unlock them (@ a price of course). But useful information non the less.
ReplyDeleteMobile Providers used to just sim and data lock their phones. Additionally, they disable bands that they don't use once the sim in the phone is not theirs.
